Major Tamil party of Sri Lanka to work according to public recommendations

The major Tamil political party in Sri Lanka, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says the party planned to work according to recommendations submitted by the Northern civilians when carrying out work in the local government bodies in the Jaffna District.



TNA General Secretary, Mavai Senathirajah has said that an advisory committee is to be set up to the local government bodies in Jaffna.

The TNA emerged victorious in the Jaffna District at the recently concluded local government elections.

Senathirajah has observed that the proposed advisory committee would advise local government bodies on development and a political solution.

The committee is to comprise academics, and social and geographical experts.

According to Senathirajah, the heads of local government bodies would be provided with training and seminars on carrying out their functions in a democratic manner.
