Sri Lanka beats England by 9 wickets

Sri Lanka beat England by 9 wickets to win the in the only Twenty20 international on Saturday in Bristol.

After winning the toss Sri Lanka Captain Thilina Kandamby who was leading the Sri Lankan team for the first time put England to bat.

Sri Lanka removed the opening pair Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb early on in the match and restricted the England side to 136.

In reply Sri Lanka lost Veteran batsman Sanath Jayasuriya who claimed two England wickets earlier but Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara easily led Sri Lanka to win by 9 wickets.

Fast bowler Lasith Malinga who has returned from the Indian premier League and Suranga Lakmal each took 2 wickets.

The two teams are to play 5 one-day internationals beginning June 28 at the Oval.

England beat Sri Lanka 1-0 in the preceding rain-affected three-Test match series.
