Sri Lanka Opposition Leader meets Bhutanese Prime Minister

Sri Lanka's Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, who is currently on an official tour to Bhutan, has met the country's Prime Minister Jigme Thinley.

During his meeting with the Bhutanese PM, Wickremasinghe has discussed matters relating to the SAARC region and the need to strengthen ties among SAARC countries, his office said today.

Wickremasinghe is on a three day official tour to Bhutan with his wife, Maithri Wickremasinghe.

He has already met with Bhutan's Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs Minister, Khandu Wangchuk yesterday. During his meeting with Wangchuk, Wickremesinghe has stressed the need to focus on an economic system that was based on the teachings of Buddhism.

The Opposition Leader is also scheduled to meet with the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
