Sri Lanka main opposition party appoints Ravi Karunanayaka as National Organizer

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Working Committee today has appointed UNP Colombo District parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka as its National Organizer.

Karunanayaka has told the media after the Working Committee meeting that he had been appointed as the National Organizer of the party.

Karunanayaka's appointment has come after weeks of speculation about the position.

Karunanayaka was backed by party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe while parliamentarian Ranjith Madduma Bandara was pushed for the post by the pro-reforms group of the party led by deputy leader Sajith Premadasa.
