A Sri Lankan citizen has filed a petition in the Court of Appeal requesting an order to reconsider a case he filed seeking damages from former Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva.
The petitioner D.K. Abhaya Padmasiri says the former Chief Justice used his powers wrongfully to keep him in remand for 294 days and he filed a case in Colombo district court demanding Rs. 100 million as emotional and monetary damages.
The petitioner in his petition filed in the Court of Appeal cited that then District Judge of Colombo T.D. Gunasekara dismissed the case without showing any reason and subjected the complaint to state charge of five-fold of average.
