Working committee of Sri Lanka major opposition meets today to make crucial appointments

The working committee of Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) is to meet this afternoon to make several crucial appointments of the party, UNP sources say.
The major task for the working committee is to decide on the appointment of a national organizer, sources said.

The name of Monaragala district MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara has already been proposed for the post whilst unconfirmed sources say MPs Mangala Samaraweera, Ravi Karunanayaka and Dayasiri Jayasekara are also vying for the post.

UNP working committee is also to appoint five vice chairmen of which two are senior vice chairmen.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said that all appointments would be made with consensus of the working committee.

Party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe would chair the UNP working committee, said the Secretary.
