Vadivelu says DMK will get 200 seats

Ace Tamil comedian Vadivelu, DMK's star campaigner in the state assembly elections, was not joking at all when he waxed confident during his meeting with chief minister M Karunanidhi on Friday that the ruling party would retain power.

Vadivelu, who called on Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence, told reporters that the DMK and allies would win at least 200 seats in this election.

Asked whether he was removed from the latest Rajini's film Rana for his involvement in targetting actor turned politician Vijayakanth during his campaign speeches, Vadivel said he was not bothered about this. "Assembly results will change the situation", he said.

Sources close to Rajinikanth said the superstar was upset with Vadivelu as he had "assassinated" Vijayakanth's character during his poll campaign.

Earlier, Rajinikanth recommended Vadivel for the film but suddenly changed his mind to give the chance to another comedian Kanja Karuppu.

DMK sources said Karunanidhi was upset with Rajinikanth's decision.

Sources added that Karunanidhi had planned to talk with Rajinikanth to consider the reinclusion of Vadivel's in his film.
