According to the Ministry, inspections are being carried out continuously in order to raid these pharmacies that have not been registered with the Cosmetic Devices and Drug Regulatory Authority.
However, it has been estimated that around 6,000-7,000 pharmacies are currently operating in the country.
The Health Ministry has told the media that Rs. 3.17 million has been earned through raids carried out on unregistered pharmacies by the Authority.
Accordingly, legal action has been instituted by the Ministry against 69 pharmacies for the possession of drugs for selling purposes without a license, 83 pharmacies for issuing medicine without prescriptions, and 63 pharmacies operating without the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
