External Affairs Ministry confirms meeting between UN Secretary-General and Sri Lankan delegation

Sri Lanka's External Affairs Ministry has reportedly said today that Attorney General Mohan Peiris and External Affairs Ministry Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe had met with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.

The Ministry's confirmation on the meeting was made just a few hours after the government denial yesterday that such a meeting was not scheduled to take place.

Local media reported today that Jayasinghe and the Attorney General were in New York for "legal consultations."

The External Affairs Ministry Secretary had met with the UN Secretary-General along with Permanent Representative to the UN Palitha Kohona and Deputy Permanent Representative, former Major General, Shavendra Silva.
