Two catering college students, hailing from Himachal Pradesh, were killed and two of their friends injured in a road accident at Sadurangapattinam near Kalpakkam in this district of Tamil Nadu early today.
Police said the deceased were identified as Saagan Dhanavarsha (20) and Niranjan Kumar Sha (20).
Both of them were students of a catering college and were residing at Indira Nagar area in Chennai city.
They were proceeding to Puducherry from Chennai along with two of their friends on two motorcycles when the mishap occurred.
The accident took place when the victims, while crossing a road overbridge, swerved to the left in a bid to avoid colliding with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction, and rammed into the parapet wall. All the four were thrown off the vehicle.
In the impact, Saagan Dhanavarsha and Niranjan Kumar Sha died on the way to Chengalpattu Government Hospital, where two of their friends, Hameed (20) and Milan (20), were admitted for injuries, police added.
