Two Tamil political parties have decided to contest the local government elections under Left Front, political sources say.
All Lanka Tamil Congress led by former Jaffna district MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam and Tamil National Liberation Front led by former Jaffna district MP M.K. Sivajilingam will contest under the Left Front.
Sivajilingam's party has reportedly failed to get the recognition from the Election Commissioner.
These two Tamil parties have come to an agreement with the Left Front led by Dr. Wickramabahu Karunaratne to contest jointly to several local councils, political sources say.
Sivajilingam joined forces with Karunaratne's Left Front when he contested the presidential elections last January.
