Stalin, Tamil Nadu ministers pay tributes to MGR

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and some of his cabinet colleagues Monday paid floral tributes to AIADMK founder and former chief minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) on the occasion of his 95th birthday.

AIADMK was founded by MGR 1972 after breaking away from DMK and managed to oust Stalin's father and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi from power in Tamil Nadu. It came to power in the state in 1977 and kept DMK out of power till the 1989 polls. MGR seved as chief minister from 1977 to his death in December 1987.

Stalin and his cabinet colleagues paid floral tributes to MGR's portrait kept in the MGR Medical University campus.
