The Sri Lankan military will host an international seminar to share its experience and strategies of its war against the terrorists with other countries.
The three-day seminar to be held at the Galadari Hotel in Colombo from May 31- June 2, will focus on counterterrorism measures, terrorist trends, political and military strategies, rapid resettlement, reconciliatory moves and post-war nation building.
Announcing the event this afternoon, Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya said more than 100 representatives of some 54 countries are expected to attend the seminar that has been planned with special focus on the Sri Lankan experience.
"Contributors and participants in the sessions are to be drawn from all corners of the world along with the representatives of different government, International Non Governmental Organizations, Non Governmental Organizations and professionals, academics and military officials," the military said in an announcement.
"This seminar will serve as an international exposure that brings credit to the Army since it will remain an open forum for extensive deliberations," Lieutenant General Jayasuriya said.
Among those scheduled to address the sessions are Secretary to President, Minister of External Affairs, Secretary Defence, and Secretary to Ministry of Finance.
On the sidelines of the main sessions, an exhibition of technological innovations and new potential defence equipment that have been produced by Research and Development section in the Ministry of Defence, and other local producers of warlike items and equipment, is also to be held, the Commander underlined.
The forum, under the patronage of the Defence Secretary, is organized by the Army on the instructions of the Commander of the Army.
