Sri Lanka Health Ministry testing quality of drinking water at hotels

Sri Lanka Ministry of Health has commenced a programme to test the quality of water available for drinking and cooking at the food outlets of the country.


The Ministry said in a communiqu' that the measure was taken in response to complaints regarding the poor quality of water in these places.

The Ministry tested water in around 100 places in Colombo Municipal area yesterday and the samples were taken for further evaluation.

The Ministry further stated in the communiqu' that the quality of the bottled water is also being tested to check if the bottlers maintain the prescribed standards.

The Ministry said that it had received complaints against some bottled water manufacturers as the consumers had tasted excessive chlorine.
