Sri Lanka Bank Employees' Union demands pensions

Sri Lanka Bank Employees' Union says that a protest campaign will be launched to win the reinstatement of the pension scheme for the bank employees.


The Sri Lanka Bank Employees' Union has planned lunch hour demonstrations in front of the banks from January 27 to February 01. A half-day strike has been organized on February 08.

The bank union says that discussions held with the Treasury Secretary to get the pension scheme reinstated failed to bring a positive outcome for them.

The pension scheme was abolished for the employees who joined the state bank service after 1996.
