Sri Lanka's legendary spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan is selected as the spinner of the International Cricket Council's all-time ODI dream team.
The ICC held the on-line contest to select the all-time best ODI team between 22 December and 2 January to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first One-Day International.
Almost 600,000 cricket fans from about 100 countries around the world have cast their votes on the ICC website to select the best ODI players of the past 40 years in the key categories of opening batsmen, middle-order batsmen, wicketkeeper, spin bowlers, and fast bowlers to include in the all-time ODI team.
Fans had a shortlist of 48 players in different categories to select the dream team.
Murali was the only spinner chosen to represent the all-time ODI team.
He bid farewell to Test cricket last July after taking a record 800 wickets but will be playing for Sri Lanka in the upcoming World Cup tournament.
India's Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have been chosen as the opening batsmen while West Indies' greats Brian Lara, Vivian Richards, and Australia's Ricky Ponting have been elected as the middle order batsmen.
Voters honored India's Kapil Dev as the All-rounder and Aussie Adam Gilchrist as the Wicketkeeper.
Pakistan's Wasim Akram, Australia's Glenn McGrath and South Africa's Allan Donald were chosen as the fast bowlers to complete the 11-man team.
Aussie Michael Bevan received the most number of votes to be the 12th man.
