Finance Ministry has a decisive task for country's development, Sri Lanka President says

In the New Year Sri Lanka is to realize the expectations of development launched during the humanitarian operations and the Finance Ministry has a decisive task in the journey towards the development, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said.


President Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance Minister made these remarks addressing the staff of the Finance Ministry for the New Year on Tuesday and launching the National Economic Programme for this year.


The programmes already mooted by the government to carry forward the country, has earned international acclamation, the President has said adding that many programmes are in operation to uplift the agricultural sector.
Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara has said that economic victories surpassed the desired goals in 2010 and expressed confidence that the country would achieve double digit economic growth by 2016.
Senior Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama and Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena were also present.
