New Commander for Sri Lanka Navy

Current Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral D. W. A. S. Dissanayake has been appointed as the Navy Commander effective from January 15.

Rear Admiral Dissanayake, who has joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1977 as an Officer Cadet, will be the 17 Commander of the Navy.

Present Navy Commander Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe who joined the Navy in 1974 is to retire from the service on January 15. Media reports quoting Secretary to the President said Admiral Samarasinghe has been nominated as the next High Commissioner to Australia.
