The Madras high court Tuesday granted conditional bail to Tamil Nadu agriculture minister Veerapandi S Arumugam's nephew, arrested for his alleged role in the murder of six members of a family near Salem in September.
Justice Aruna Jagadeesan allowed the bail application of K Sureshkumar, nephew of agriculture minister Veerapandi S Arumugam, on the condition that he should stay in Tiruchirappalli and report to the Judical Magistrate daily at 10am and 5pm until further orders.
Sureshkumar, vice-chairman of the Salem district panchayat, was arrested by the CB-CID police on the charge of instigating the prime accused Sivaguru to murder his father, a retired police inspector, mother and four other family members over a property dispute at Dasanaickenpatti.
In her order, Justice Jagadeesan said considering the facts, except the said allegation that Sureshkumar had made some utterances, no other material was available to show his participation in the commission of the crime.
The Judge also ordered Sureshkumar to execute a bond of Rs 10,000 and two sureties for the like sum.
