French charity-funded garment factory opens in Southern Sri Lanka

The French charity Secours Populaire Francais (SPF) has established a garment factory in Hambanthota of southern Sri Lanka to benefit the family members of the December 2004 tsunami victims.


Hambanthota district Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa declared open the facility named 'Rangiri Garment Factory' yesterday with the participation of a delegation of French officials. Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris also participated in the event.
The facility with around sewing machines is expected to employ around 100 people from the area.
