The latest statistics from Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center (DMC) report that 588,014 people have been affected by floods in the Eastern and North Central Provinces of the country.
Three deaths and seven injuries have also been recorded due to the floods in several areas.
The DMC say that affected people belong to 157,738 families in the Districts of Ampara, Batticaloa, and Polonnaruwa.
According to the DMC, 4,685 families are currently being sheltered in 18 camps in those districts.
Floods have also fully damaged 669 houses and partially damaged 2,631 houses.
