Sri Lankan Premier says the country could prevail over any future disaster if everyone stood together

Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne said that the country would be able to triumph over any future disaster with ease if every one stood together.

Jayaratne made this comment while addressing the National Safety Day held at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna Sunday to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the 2004 tsunami.

The Prime Minister has stated that the country was able to overcome the tsunami devastation because everyone acted without discrimination.

He has said that regardless of the ethnic divisions, everyone stood together when the country was hit by the tsunami.

Jayaratne has further observed that the country could triumph if there was ever another disaster if everyone joined hands and united together.
