The Sri Lankan government said today that it will consider the possibility of providing assistance to India in fighting the LTTE.
Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the Cabinet press briefing today that the Sri Lankan government could consider it if a request was made by the Indian authorities.
Rambukwella made this comment in response to a question posed by the media about the recent LTTE terror alert in India.
Indian media reported yesterday that remnants of Sri Lanka's vanquished terrorist outfit Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are trying to regroup in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and launch spectacular strikes on high-profile targets like Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Sri Lanka eradicated the LTTE terrorism and eliminated all its senior leaders in May 2009.
