President receives blessings from Aiyappan Pada Yathra procession

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today near the Temple Tress greeted the Aiyappan Pada Yathra Hindu procession which is on its way from Kochikade Sivan Temple to Mayurapath Amman Temple in Wellawatte.

The priests from Kerala Vishnu Namboodri and Bala Shankara Ravi Sharma handed over the blessed prasadam to the President.

The trustees of Sri Mayurapathy Amman Temple and Anand Iyappan Temple led the Pada Yatra procession organized by the Sri Lanka Sabarimalai Pada Yathra Association to invoke blessings on the country and the President.


A large number of devotees of about 20,000 from all over Sri Lanka who are on a pilgrimage to Holy Iyappan Temple in Sabarimalai in Kerala State participated in the annual event. The group is to leave for India on January 04.
