Sri Lanka's main opposition UNP to hold annual convention on December 12

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Working Committee has decided to hold its annual convention on December 12. The party reforms will be presented at this convention for ratification.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told the media that the new party constitution was unanimously approved by the Working Committee and the report compiled by the committee on the new constitution will also be presented at the convention.

Once approved the new party constitution is to come into effect within 120 days from the day of the convention.

Attanayake also noted that the Working Committee had also taken action to sack six UNP Local Government Members who extended their support to the government.
