Sri Lankan government appoints ministerial committee to handle claims by flood victims

The Sri Lankan government has appointed a ministerial committee to handle claims made by victims of the recent floods.

The committee comprises Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Athauda Seneviratne, Keheliya Rambukwella and A.H.M. Fowzie.
Disaster Management Minister Fowzie has proposed the committee and told the media that it would begin its work once it receives claims from the people.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodipilli, has said that 272,000 people were affected by the floods and among them 20,554 displaced people are living in 22 welfare centers.
