Sri Lankan gold medalist boxer fails the doping test again

Sri Lankan media reported today that the Commonwealth boxing gold medalist Manju Wanniarachchi had failed the 'B' sample urine test as well.

Wanniarachchi, 30, had tested positive for the steroid nandrolone, at the last month's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

He is likely to face a two-year ban and lose his medal after his 'B' urine sample too tested positive for banned anabolic steroids.

However, the boxer's lawyer Kalinga Indrathissa told local media that the B sample urine test was not conducted in line with proper 'chain of custody'.

A team led by Indrathissa witnessed the B sample urine test. The Counsel said that the test would be legally challenged.
