Sri Lanka Opposition Leader says Suu Kyi's release a victory for people who love democracy in the world

Sri Lanka Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has hailed the release of Myanmar's democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest as a victory for democracy loving people in the world.

Wickremasinghe has been quoted in the media as saying that Suu Kyi's release could be considered as another victory of democracy as the anti-democratic journey of the military government, which took away her freedom for 15 years was brought to an end.
He has said that the Myanmar Opposition Leader's release has shown that moves by various world leaders to disregard democracy were short lived.

According to Wickremasinghe, Suu Kyi's release also plays as an important guiding role for Sri Lankan leaders to decide on the fate of the imprisoned former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
