The main opposition party of Sri Lanka, United National Party (UNP) today launched the third phase of their Grama Charika programme in the Kundasale electorate in the hill country.
UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya while participating in the programme has said the party will continue to represent the people who are suffering under the current administration.
He has said that the UNP would fight to safeguard their democratic rights.
Jayasuriya has further noted that it is the duty of the UNP to protect the rights of the suppressed masses and to provide them with an opportunity to live in a free country.
The Grama Charika programme in Kundasale will be held Sunday as well. The programme is aimed at taking the party policies to the grassroots level and building the rural vote base.
