The Sri Lankan government today said that the Northern and Eastern Provinces in the country have been allocated sufficient funds from the government's capital expenditure.
Leader of the House, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told parliament that the North and East have been allocated 25 percent of the government's capital expenditure.
The Minister said that while such an amount has been allocated to the North and East, the two provinces have only 13 percent of the country's population.
Minister de Silva's statement comes at a time when the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) was saying that the government's 2011 budget has not addressed the needs of the Tamil community.
