Three police teams probing attack against the VC of Sri Lanka's Ruhuna University

Sri Lanka police say three police teams are conducting investigations to arrest the culprits of the attack on the Vice Chancellor of the Ruhuna University.

The Vice Chancellor of the Ruhuna University Prof. Susirith Mendis was injured when he attempted to mediate a clash between two student factions of the University.

It is reported that the clash was between the Sri Lanka Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna led Maha Shishya Sangamaya based in the Arts Faculty and the students of the Science Faculty.

Two more university teachers were also injured in the incident. Police sources say five suspected students have been traced and they are to be arrested soon.
