Sri Lanka's WPC to seize movable properties of local governments owing money to Council

Sri Lanka's Western Provincial Council (WPC) has decided to suspend the vehicles and office equipment of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) for its failure to pay a rent of Rs. 2.6 billion to the WPC.

Local media has reported that the WPC is to carry out the suspension from October 1.
Western Province Commissioner of Local Government Services H. Sumanapala has been quoted in the local media saying that the WPC had decided to seize the vehicles and all moveable equipment belonging to the respective institutions under the CMC and other local government bodies that owed money, till the rental sum was paid.
Sumanapala has said that the local government bodies in the Western Province owed a sum of Rs 3.076 billion to the WPC.
