Sri Lanka's Fraud Investigation Bureau investigates into the misuse of state land by using forged documents

Sri Lanka's Fraud Investigation Bureau has said that investigations are being carried out into several acres of government land that have been misused using forged certificates
.The Bureau has informed the local media that forged certificates had been issued from the Tea, Rubber, and Coconut Estates (Control of Fragmentation) Board.
Several acres of government land from Kuliyapitiya and Puttalam had reportedly been used after forging the certificates that were issued by the Board.
The forged certificates had come to light after a lawyer had forwarded the certificates for confirmation to the Tea, Rubber and Coconut Estates Board.
The Plantation and Industries Ministry has instructed the police to take necessary action against the matter.
The Board urges the public to scrutinize and clarify whether the relevant permission of the Board has been obtained for fragmentation of the land, if it is a coconut land of more than 04 hectares and for tea and rubber more than 20 hectares.
