Sri Lanka police arrest two Marxist party members in Jaffna for pasting posters

The Sri Lankan Police in the Jaffna peninsula of the Northern Province Saturday arrested two Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) members while trying to paste posters in the Jaffna town area.

The posters had called on the people to join forces to defeat the dictatorial constitutional amendments.

The two JVPers who included a defeated JVP candidate at the last general election had been arrested when they had tried to paste posters opposing the constitutional amendments that are to be taken up in parliament next week.

The police said the JVPers were arrested for trying to paste posters against the government.
