Sri Lanka police in Nuwara Eliya yesterday have arrested two Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) members while distributing leaflets against the proposed 18th amendment to public in the Nuwara Eliya town in the central hills
.The party last week launched a leaflet distribution campaign to create awareness among the public about the government's proposed constitutional amendments and its adverse impact on the country.
JVP sources said one of the two party members arrested by the police is a JVP candidate for the local government elections.
The two party members had been detained at the Kandy Police last night and released without any charges.
Meanwhile, few days ago police in Jaffna also arrested two JVP members while pasting posters about the 18th amendment in the Jaffna town.
