Sri Lanka Election Department sources say the Acting Election Commissioner P.M. Siriwardhana will go to the Northern Province of Sri Lanka to monitor the registration of voters in preparation for forthcoming local government polls
.He will monitor the registration of voters in the districts of Jaffna, Vavuniya, Mannar, Kilinochchi, and Mullaitivu during his two day visit to the region
A large number of the residents of these districts is resettled people who were unable to use their franchise properly during the war.
The Election Monitors accused the authorities recently that the registration of voters is not carried out properly in these districts.
The Acting Election Commissioner is responsible for the preparation of voter registries in the Northern and Eastern Provinces, Election Commissioner's Department sources said.
