Sri Lanka's Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided to intensify its campaign against the government's proposed constitutional amendments
.The JVP is to launch their island wide campaign against the proposed amendments today from Colombo Fort. They plan to distribute handbills to the public.
JVP sources said the party leaders will launch the campaign today and it will be carried out in all districts.
The party has already launched a series of seminars against the government's constitutional amendments that is being conducted in all districts of the country.
Following the Cabinet decision to approve the amendments and the government's decision to present them before parliament next week, the JVP launched an island wide poster campaign calling for the defeat of the constitutional amendments.
JVP sources told that the party is currently engaged in sending letters to all legislators asking them to vote against the amendments when they are taken up in parliament next week.
