The United Nations' Food and Agricultural Organization has taken measures to supply seed paddy to the resettled farmers in the Northern Province.
The FAO will provide 320,000 bushels seed paddy free of charge to the farmers.
The Assistant Residential Officer of the Food and Agricultural Organization Dr. Premalal Kuruppu Arachchi said that the seed paddy is distributed among the farmers on the request of the government from next week.
USAID and the Norwegian government are also assisting the measure.
The seed will be used by the resettled farmers in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Vavuniya districts during the upcoming Maha season.
