Sri Lanka's Susanthika Jayasinghe gets promoted to silver for 200 m at 2000 Olympics

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the authority from International Olympic committee presented the silver medal to Sri Lanka's sprint queen Susanthika Jayasinghe, who was promoted from bronze to silver in the 200 meter event at 2000 Sydney Olympics, at the Temple Trees Monday.

The 2000 Olympic medals were reassigned in the women's track events after the gold medalist Marion Jones was found guilty of taking banned drugs and accordingly Susanthika was awarded the Silver by the International Olympic committee.
Two of the three individual Olympic medals were stripped from Jones last year by the International Olympic Committee.
Sports Minister C. B. Ratnayake, President of Athletic Association of Sri Lanka General Palitha Fernando, and Secretary of the Ministry of Sports Mr. S. Liyanagamage were also present.
