Sri Lankan researchers develop equipment to filter lime from water

A group of Sri Lankan researchers have developed equipment that can remove the lime in hard water.
The new equipment that can filter lime from water has been developed by a group of scientists of the Institute of fundamental Studies in Kandy.

Lime is mixed with water in many areas of Sri Lanka, mostly in Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Monaragala districts. The water gives a bad taste and the high calcium carbonate concentration in water poses a health hazard.

The new instrument will be available for public from next month, IFS says.
