Sri Lanka police arrest two persons trying to accept ransom after threatening to kidnap a student

Sri Lanka Police are to present to court today two individuals who were arrested while allegedly accepting ransom money after threatening to kidnap a student in the Akuramboda area in Matale.


The crimes division of the Matale police had arrested the suspects with a sum of Rs 20 million in the Golahenwatte area.
The suspects according to the police had called the parents and threatened to kidnap the female student if they did not pay a sum of Rs 20 million.
The police had received a pistol from the suspects at the time of the arrest and had also discovered a locally manufactured hand grenade left by another suspect who had fled the scene.
The suspects are to be produced before the Matale magistrate court today.
