Sri Lanka's public sector trade unions to launch petition signing campaign calling for promised salary increment

: Sri Lanka's Government Services Trade Union Confederation (GSTUC) is to launch a petition signing campaign today (28) demanding the government to pay the promised Rs. 2,500 salary increment to the public sector employees.


The petition signing campaign will be launched today opposite the Maradana Railway Station.
GSTUC Convener Saman Ratnapriya told the media that the salary increment promised by the government during the last Presidential election has not been granted yet and has thus far not made any arrangements to pay the sum.
He has added that the government has not indicated any decision to include the salary increment in the 2010 Budget that is to be presented tomorrow (29).
