Sri Lanka's main opposition parliamentarian says 2010 budget shows government's economic mismanagement

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Hambantota District parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa said the government's 2010 budget is one that has been formed in an incoherent manner.

Premadasa said that the budget has not been formed based on sound economic principles, but a mishmash of economic theories.
He said the government has ignored and neglected the development and growth sectors in the budget.

"Although it is an interim budget, there has been no effort to jump start economic development in the country," he said, adding that it is a lethargic approach to economic management.
Sri Lanka's opposition accuses the government of preparing a budget to satisfy the dictates of the International Monetary Fund.
