Indian Coast Guard on Friday night has rescued five Sri Lankan fishermen lost at sea off Andhra Pradesh coast three weeks ago.
The Coast Guard launched the search and rescue operation in response to a request from Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission in Chennai.
The fishermen who left the Dondra fishing harbour in the Matara District on May 6th on a boat named 'Pearl Ishara-3' had lost communication with the boat owner since May 23rd.
The Indian Coast Guard located the boat 41 nautical miles off Kalingapatnam on Friday and it was safely towed to Vishakhapatnam.
The crew will be repatriated after completing formalities, the Indian Coast Guard officials said.
