.
Sri Lanka main opposition United National Party Kandy District parliamentarian Abdul Cader has said that he will accept the government polices and will not participate in any affairs of the UNP in the future.
Cader had also said that he is not expecting any ministerial or deputy ministerial portfolio from the government, but was willing to accept such a post if offered.
The opposition parliamentarian had made this comment when he had met the Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter in Kandy today (15).
Cader is yet to officially join the Government and has so far only stated that he approves the policies and development plans of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
His decision to support the government was made following the UNP leadership's failure to pay attention to a request by him during the general election. Cader requested the party leadership not to nominate three Muslim candidates for the Kandy District saying it would give way for communalism.
The party leadership however, had discarded his request.
During the vote on extending Emergency Regulations in parliament earlier this month, Cader voted in favor of the regulations with the government.
