Sri Lanka Election Commissioner directed the Colombo district Retaining Officer today to name the next candidate of the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) preferential vote list of the 2010 general election as a parliamentarian for Colombo district.

Sri Lanka opposition MP complains to IGP over alleged police assault on himself and party members

Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Vijitha Herath today (19) lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Police Headquarters against the manner in which the Galle police had treated two parliamentarians and 10 others last week.

Sri Lankan court remands Marxist alliance members following protest

Sri Lanka's Marxist Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarians Vijitha Herath, Ajith Kumara and Provincial Councilor Nalin Hewage along with 10 others have been remanded till August 16 by the Galle Magistrate.

Sri Lankan court orders Prisons Commissioner General to ensure General Fonseka's parliamentary privileges

A Sri Lankan court today ordered the Prisons Commissioner General in writing to ensure the parliamentary privileges of former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka, who is currently in military detention.
