The leader of Buddhist nationalist party, Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) Omalpe Sobitha Thero asked the government to deport all Tamil Nadu nationals who are in Sri Lanka now. The politician monk said the government's inaction before the continuous protests of Tamil Nadu against Sri Lanka was demeaning to the nation's pride. He emphasized that the government needs to discontinue all relationships with Tamil Nadu. Rejecting the proposal passed in Tamil Nadu state assembly to hold a referendum to decide on establishing a separate Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka, the Buddhist priest said that all members of Tamil Nadu state assembly who voted for the proposal should be barred from entering Sri Lanka.
