Muslim-owned store in Sri Lanka comes under attack, STF deployed

A Muslim-owned store in Pepiliyana, a suburb of Sri Lankan capital Colombo has come under attack from an unidentified group including Buddhist monks, reports from Colombo said.
The police and the elite Special Task Force (STF) police had reportedly brought the situation under control now. According to local media reports, the group started attacking a showroom of the Fashion Bug main store in Pepiliyana. Several people have been injured and several vehicles and the building have sustained damages, reports said. Heavy army, police and STF presence can be seen at the scene and the situation has been brought under control. The Buddhist extremist groups have taken on the Muslim businesses lately and the government is urged to take action against the extremists soon to prevent the attacks. The government has been warned of another major ethnic disaster if not acted immediately to curtail such incidents.
