Bribery complaint lodged against Sri Lanka Minister over a bus stop


Colombo district parliamentarian of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Ravi Karunanayaka today lodged a complaint against the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, Wimal Weerawansa in the Bribery and Corruption Commission.
The complaint is in regard of a bus stop made near Diaywanna stream in Sri Jayewardenepura near the parliamentary complex. MP Karunanayaka said in his complaint that a corruption has taken place during the construction of the particular bus stop. He says that while the Minister Wimal Weerawansa says that the bus stop cost Rs. 3.1 million, the construction company has announced that it could be constructed for Rs. 500,000. The disputed bus halting place is a masterpiece that is shaped like a banana leaf. -->
