Sri Lankan government asked to provide immediate relief to people affected by adverse weather

Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) affiliated organization Peoples Wall of Comradeship (PWC) says the government needed to immediately provide relief to the persons affected by adverse weather conditions, especially in the North and East Provinces. Issuing a statement, PWC co-conveners, JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti and former parliamentarian Ramalingam Chandrasekeran have said
the people in the North and East Provinces have been faced with many difficulties due to the adverse weather conditions that was experienced in the country until yesterday. They have noted that the displaced families who have been resettled in temporary shelters in the North, especially in the Puthukudiyiruppu, Mullivaikkal, Kopai and Mullaitivu have been worst affected by the adverse weather in the area in the past few days. "The People's Wall of Comradeship is greatly concerned about the disaster situation these innocent people have been subjected to and they have been displaced again due to the haphazard resettling process of the government. We demand the government to mediate immediately and provide relief to the people in the North and the East and elsewhere who have been battered by the cyclonic weather conditions and floods," the PWC has said. -->
